Project type

Experimental 3D Collage Poster Design - Academic Project

This project explores three-dimensional collage using leftover materials from my previous works, including bubble wrap from delivery packages, homemade biodegradable plastic, and recycled newspapers.

Inspired by Canadian-American environmental artist Aurora Robson, the concept embraces the idea of starting with waste rather than ending with it, treating discarded materials as a beginning point for creative expression rather than a byproduct.

Design Process

This project began with a three-dimensional collage created from leftover materials, including bubble wrap from delivery packages, homemade biodegradable plastic, and recycled newspapers. The goal was to use waste to construct a chaotic visual that mimics the appearance of water pollution. By intentionally choosing mostly biodegradable components, the project aimed to explore alternative material applications and promote awareness of sustainable design.

Using the physical collage as a starting point, I created a series of digital posters by rearranging text, incorporating 3D models, and adjusting the color palette. Brighter, more saturated hues were used to evoke a toxic visual effect, emphasizing how humans can perceive plastic in water, while marine animals cannot. Through this contrast, the project simulates the experience of aquatic life surrounded by synthetic waste, highlighting the invisible dangers of water pollution.
